The Advocates for Human Rights is a non-governmental, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of internationally recognized human rights. With the help of the more than 600 active volunteers who contribute an estimated $3.4 million annually of in-kind services, The Advocates documents human rights abuses, advocates on behalf of individual victims, educates on human rights issues, and provides training and technical assistance to address and prevent human rights violations.
Battered Immigrant Women Project Steering Committee Members
The Advocates used a fact-finding methodology and international human rights framework to document the obstacles that battered immigrant women in the Twin Cities face in accessing protection and government services. The Advocates is now using the findings and recommendations of The Government Response to Domestic Violence Against Refugee and Immigrant Women in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metropolitan Area: A Human Rights Report to change some of the policies that impact battered immigrant women.
