Bill Cameron

Bill Cameron is a talented, passionate, and long-time advocate for human rights. He was one of the original founders of The Advocates for Human Rights and has remained involved in many aspects of the organization for nearly thirty years, more than fifteen of which were spent serving on our board of directors.  He was one of the moving forces of The Advocates’ public commitment against the death penalty and continues to be involved in the death penalty steering committee.  Bill is a true renaissance man.  In addition to being an accomplished lawyer at Henson & Efron, P.A., he is a retired commercial airline pilot and a professional photographer.  Many will recognize him as the man behind the camera at many of The Advocates’ awards dinners as well as numerous other events. We are honoring him for his many years of volunteer service and, in particular, thanking him for his tireless efforts to record our important events in photographs.

Deborah Fowler

Deborah Fowler became involved with The Advocates for Human Rights in 2002 when she shared her expertise as an organizational management consultant with the Collabrium by coaching both the board of directors and staff. She also volunteered time with the new executive director who, as a human rights lawyer, greatly benefited from her guidance in organizational management. Deb also offered her skills when our post-Truth and Reconciliation Commission project was launched, which promoted further reconciliation among Minnesota’s Liberian community. Deb coached Liberian women leaders who were coming together to improve the lives of the Liberian diaspora community. She later broadened the reach of her effort by connecting each Liberian leader with an individual from her network of talented women consultants. We recognize Deb with a volunteer award in honor of her many and varied contributions over the years.

Cuong Nguyen

Since 2009, Cuong Nguyen has helped The Advocates advance human rights principles with his time and exceptional talent in graphic design. He helps The Advocates design its annual reports and invitations to the Human Rights Awards Dinner, acts as a general design consultant, and is a member of the branding marketing team. He creates beautiful, original pieces and works with the communications team to ensure that they clearly reflect The Advocates’ message. Creative Principal at Vital Images, Inc., he has displayed extraordinary patience and commitment to The Advocates and the human rights movement, especially when staff members call him to troubleshoot at times small publishing issues. His valuable contributions have helped The Advocates refine its organizational image, giving our efforts greater reach and impact in today’s design-conscious world.
