Robert Meeropol, Son of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, to Speak at St. Thomas School of Law
10/29/2004 - 10/29/2004
NLG attorney, activist, Rosenberg son and "An Execution in the Family" author,

Robert Meeropol, will speak on Capital Conspiracy: The New Face of the Death Penalty After 9/11 on Friday, October 29. Mr. Meeropol will speak at noon in the Schulze Grand Atrium at the University of St. Thomas School of Law.

Robert Meeropol was six years old when his parents, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, were sent to the electric chair in 1953, executed by the U.S. government after one of the most hotly debated trials in American history. In the wake of 9/11 and the war with Iraq, the Homeland Security Act and the USA Patriot Act have given the government unprecedented new powers to investigate citizens’ lives in the name of preventing terrorism. In this public lecture, Robert Meeropol will discuss the death penalty, his parents’ case and the parallels between 1953 and post-9/11 America.

Mr Meeropol's talk is sponsored by the University of St. Thomas Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild and the University of St. Thomas Student Government. For info contact Kyle MacDonald.
