JUNE 30: Taylor Expected in Nigerian Court Tomorrow: Security Tightens

 

Charles Taylor, accused of 17 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity, is to face summons proceedings at the Nigerian High Court in Abuja July 1, 2004. A Writ of Summons, arising out of case filed by two Nigerian businessmen, was issued by the presiding Judge of the Federal Court, Justice Stephen Adah. Justice Adah has asked the Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, to produce Charles Taylor for the proceedings. Duke stated that he is not in a position to produce Taylor in court and has claimed that he has not received the order as of yet.
