MN Advocates adds a new website section on Sierra Leone

Minnesota Advocates has added a new section on Sierra Leone to its website. This section provides news updates, background information on Sierra Leone, a brief history of the conflict, a description of transitional justice mechanisms, a list of international legal obligations, an online resource list, and a photo gallery.

In May 2004, a Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights delegation traveled to Sierra Leone to monitor the transitional justice process in that country. In addition to documenting the human rights abuses committed during the conflict, the team examined Sierra Leone’s two primary transitional justice mechanisms, the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).
