From 2003 to 2008, The Advocates for Human Rights and Dorsey & Whitney LLP have co-sponsored a bi-monthly speaker series on the death penalty. Past presentations have addressed issues, such as wrongful convictions, victim-oriented advocacy, mental retardation, mental illness, lethal injection, and the European position against the death penalty. In addition, local attorneys who have represented death row inmates in their post-conviction appeals have also shared their experiences.
Finally, The Advocates for Human Rights has partnered with other organizations, including The Innocence Project of Minnesota, St. Joan of Arc Church and The Friends of the St. Paul Public Library, to host educational events. Past events include facilitating talkbacks for The Exonerated, and After Innocence, hosting screenings for At the Death House Door and Judgment at Midnight, as well as co-sponsoring a film series at the St. Paul Public Libraries.
