The Advocates seeks to promote human rights through national and international justice processes. The Advocates works to develop practical and sustainable strategies to assist post-conflict countries in moving toward peace and accountability. For example, The Advocates collaborated with the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission to develop a new model for involving refugee populations in transitional justice. In addition, The Advocates holds consultative status with the United Nations and participates in monitoring and reporting to United Nations human rights bodies and regional human rights mechanisms on issue areas in which we hold expertise. The Advocates also collaborates with civil society organizations throughout the world on international justice issues, including death penalty abolition.
