Minnesota Detention Project
The Advocates for Human Rights represents non-citizens detained in immigration custody.  Together with Centro Legal, Inc. and the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, The Advocates provide consultations and representation to all immigration detainees at their initial appearances in Immigration Court.  Volunteers from the legal community, including the William Mitchell College of Law and the University of St. Thomas Law School clinics, participate in this effort, unique in the United States.  This is the only opportunity for the vast majority of the hundreds of non-citizens detained by immigration authorities in Minnesota to meet with an attorney prior to their removal hearings.
