New Jersey One Step Closer to Abolition

The New Jersey General Assembly has voted 44 to 36 to make New Jersey the first state since Iowa and West Virginia in 1965 to legislatively repeal the death penalty. The bill now goes to the governor, who has strongly indicated he will sign it.
