MinnPost ran an article on May 5 about The Advocates declining a $25,000 grant from the Craigslist Fund over the company's facilitation of human trafficking and child exploitation. The article quotes The Advocates' Executive Director Robin Phillips: "They know what's going on with their site, and they are allowing it to continue. Making contributions doesn't make up for facilitating human sex trafficking, and it doesn't begin to repair the damage."

The article, "Immigration class spells out process," describes The Advocates' class as taking "a subject that most Americans would flunk and (bringing) 30 Austin residents up to speed in just an hour and a half."
