The Guantanamo Bay Challenge: Finding the Balance between Our Nation’s Security and Our Nation’s Ideals
A Public Forum with James Dorsey and Nicole Moen, Fredrickson & Byron
On November 12, MIC will host a public forum with James Dorsey and Nicole Moen of the Fredrickson & Byron Law Firm, who represent an Algerian detainee held in Guantanamo Bay. They will explain who the detainees are, and discuss their treatment and the legal recourse available to test the appropriateness of their continued detention. The presentation will include photos of the prison and sketches of the interrogation procedures.
An advocate for Human Rights, James Dorsey has represented the MCLU, the ACLU the NAACP, death row inmates, as well as many other indigent clients in the Minneapolis area over his 25 year career.
Nicole Moen is a commercial litigator and serves as translator during visits with their client.
