Support and celebrate our work by participating in the 2006 Headwaters Foundation Walk For Justice at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis!
Get involved!
1) Check out how much money we have raised so far.
2) Sign up to walk for Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights.
3) Sponsor a Minnesota Advocates walker.
Minnesota Advocates has set a goal of 50 walkers and $7,500 in pledges: $150 per walker. However, any amount that you raise will help advance the cause of human rights. Here are two examples of what $100 can do:
· It pays our annual costs supporting one volunteer lawyer
representing one refugee seeking asylum from persecution, torture, or death in their home country.
· It pays for the education and food for one child in our Sankhu-Palubari Community School in Nepal for one year.
Overview:
The Walk for Justice is an inclusive fundraising and publicity event in support of community-based non-profit organizations in the Twin Cities that work on a variety of issues, including social, racial, economic, and environmental injustice. More than 100 community groups will meet at Boom Island park this year to walk together along a three mile circular course, displaying banners and signs, celebrating together the important work being done in our communities. Participating organizations recruit walkers who then solicit sponsors to contribute dollars to their group. Walkers are invited to a community picnic following the walk.

Opening Festivities
Music drumming and a fun brief program to kick off the Headwaters Walk for Justice.

Walk and Roll for Justice
Most peope will take about 1.5 hours to complete the 5K (3.5 miles) route. Water will be provided at rest stops along the route. First Aid will be available. |

Community Picnic
Join the other walkers for a community picnic and live music at Boom Island Park. Rain or Shine. |
