Submissions Archive - Universal Periodic Review

The Human Rights Council, which replaced the Commission on Human Rights, held its first meeting on 19 June 2006. This intergovernmental body, which meets in regular sessions throughout the year, is composed of 47 elected United Nations Member States who serve for 3 years.  Through its Universal Periodic Review process, the Human Rights Council conducts regular reviews of the human rights record of every United Nations Member State.

The Advocates provided comments during the process of setting up the Human Rights Council.

The Advocates provides the Human Rights Council with information based upon our work to assist in the effective review of human rights practices around the world through the Universal Periodic Review process.
