REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT PROGRAM
Deferred Enforced Departure Status (DED) for Liberians Deferred enforced departure has been granted for one year, from September 29, 1999 to September 28, 2000, for Liberians. This will allow persons who currently have Temporary Protective Status to extend their status and employment authorization. Liberians who entered the United States as of September 28, 1999, are eligible to apply for DED. DED allows for a stay of 12 months for people whose homeland has been affected by war or natural disaster. Liberians have been granted several extensions of TPS as a result of the civil war and unrest which erupted in 1989. Please contact Audrey Carr at the Refugee & Asylum Project immediately if you have any questions.
